Early Childhood Education

Your child's first years of school are filled with many wondrous moments.  It's a time of tremendous social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.  St. Andrew understands the importance in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and is proud to offer a dedicated program for Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and Kindergarten.  Under the direction of Ms. Lee, our ECE curriculum focuses on developing a strong foundation for each student. Please read the information below to learn more about our Pre-K, TK, and Kindergarten programs.

 

Program Description

All students are provided age appropriate courses: Religion, Language Arts, Math, Science, Art, Music, and Spanish Curriculum appropriate field trips are scheduled throughout the year.

 

Age Requirements

Pre-Kindergarten

  • Students must be 3 years old by September 1st
  • Birthday must be September 1st or earlier
  • Students must be fully potty trained

Transitional Kindergarten

  • Students 4-5 years old
  • Must be 4 years old by September 1st

Kindergarten

  • Students 5-6 years old
  • Must be 5 years old by September 1st

Pre-Kindergarten

This is a 5- day program Monday- Thursday 8:15 am- 3:00pm (Friday dismissal at 12:00pm, a limited number of half days are availed). Pre- K has a thematic based curriculum that includes: age appropriate classroom centers hands-on activities exploration fine and gross motor skill development spatial relations math, language, religion, social skills. These classes enroll approximately 12- 15 children with a minimum of 2-3 teachers and instructional aides. All Pre-K students must be physically signed in and out by parent or adult on the emergency form.

 

PK  Students ONLY Drop-off and Pick-up:

It is required by state law that PK parents sign their child in and out each day. Individuals designated on the child's enrollment form/ emergency card will be allowed to pick up the child and must be 18 years or older. To authorize release of a child to a person not listed on the enrollment form/emergency card, a request by the parent or guardian must be made in writing to the school.

 

 

PK morning drop-off:

7:40am-8:15am any students arriving after 8:15am will be marked tardy.

 

PK after school pick up:

Monday-Thursday 2:45pm-3:10pm any students not picked-up by 3:10pm will be sent to Camp Tiger-parents will be charged a drop-in fee. Friday 11:45pm-12:10pm any student not picked up by 12:10pm will be sent to Camp Tiger-parents will be charged a drop-in fee.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

This is a 5- day program, Monday through Thursday 8:00 am- 3:00 pm.  Friday from 8:00 am- 12:00 pm. (If you are interested in more half-day options please contact the office). Drop off is from 7:40 am- 8:00 am, those arriving after 8:00 am will be marked tardy. TK enrolls approximately 22- 25 children with a minimum of 2-3 teachers and instructional aides.  TK uses a modified Kindergarten curriculum that is age appropriate.  In addition, the classroom uses Happily Ever After reading readiness program, which is the foundation to begin reading instruction with the Wonders Reading Program.

Kindergarten

lunchThis is a 5- day program, Monday through Thursday 8:00 am- 3:00 pm.  Friday from 8:00 am- 12:00 pm. Drop off is from 7:40 am- 8:00 am, those arriving after 8:00 am will be marked tardy.

Kindergarten enrolls approximately 25-30 children with a minimum of 2-3 teachers and instructional aides. Kindergarten provides experiences to prepare for a more formalized environment.  The class will use the Wonders program to teach reading and phonics.  In addition, the class will use Ready Math, an interactive and visual learning program to enhance the math curriculum.
