Fr. Paul Anthony Sustayta was born on April 16, 1964 in Glendale, California to Pablo and Esther Sustayta.
He began his education at All Saints Catholic School in Los Angeles. He attended summer programs at St. Catherine's Military School in Anaheim and Loyola High School. After graduation from 8th grade in 1978, he entered St. Francis High School in La Canada Flintridge.
In the Spring of 1982 he was accepted to UCLA where he had hopes of attending since his youth. It was then that he began the discernment process of a priestly vocation and soon afterward decided to enter St. John's Seminary College in Camarillo.
His first assignment was at St. John of God in Norwalk, followed by St. Andrew in Pasadena. After serving at St. Andrew, he attended Boston College and Harvard University, where he received his M.A.; Ed. in Religious Education with an emphasis on Hispanic Ministry.
In February of 2000 he was named Pastor of Holy Spirit Church in Los Angeles and in 2003, he was asked to take on the additional Pastorate of its neighbor St. Mary Magdalene. He had been in this leadership role as Pastor of two parishes, prior to his appointment as Pastor of St. Andrew in February of 2007.
