My name is  Mrs. Irene  Izquierdo -Patterson. I grew up in the Atwater Village area of Los Angeles a child of Spanish immigrants and I am a product of a Catholic school education. I attended St. Casimir elementary school and graduated from Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena. I went on to major in Spanish at Colby and participated in their University of Salamanca program. I minored in Biology with the intent of going into the medical field. After returning from the east coast I worked for several years at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in the Central Lab in clinical diagnostics. Having children opened my eyes to the wonders of child development. My passion became educating the young child. I had the opportunity to work in various preschools in the Pasadena area. Then an opportunity to work at St. Andrew Catholic School where my children were enrolled, presented itself.  I was thrilled that I could become part of the St. Andrew family as part of the teaching team.  I have been teaching 1st Grade since 2007 and enjoy watching children become proficient readers, exploring their world as scientists and mathematicians. My Catholic faith led me to St. Andrew and teaching children about God allows me to live my faith each day.

My hobbies include hiking (walked the Camino de Santiago in 2015), reading and Netflix. I have a Goldendoodle named Wrigley and love the Dodgers and the Cubs! I am mother to Anna and Charlie – both graduates of St. Andrew School!
